ABOUT THIS HUNT:
This hunt was combined with a successful Eastern Canadian Moose hunt.

The bad weather that plagued us in pursuit of the moose came back in and we were pinned down in camp.

I prayed for good weather because hanging around in camp is not my thing. Even though there was thick fog, I couldn't take it anymore and decided it was time to head out and attempt to see what we could see which in the fog wasn't much.

We knew the caribou were up on the open tundra so we played the wind and started hiking for about an hour when we decided to stop near the only available cover which was a big rock. Our plan was to wait for the wind to blow the fog away and just like a script in a movie, once the fog rolled out there was a herd of caribou in front of us.

Lo and behold there was a shooter in the bunch. We set up for the shot and unbelievably the fog rolled back in. Darn! No shot.

We used the fog to our advantage and decided to close the gap to within 100 yards. I was stunned! The fog rolled back out and there was my shot. I took what the good Lord presented and down went my OQ Woodland Caribou.

The float plane was due in that day to resupply the camp. We loaded the Eastern Canadian Moose meat and the freshly killed Woodland Caribou and got on the plane. Good thing too, the others in camp we left behind got socked in with bad weather for 5 days! Been there, didn't want to do that!
